Can You Replace A Roof During Winter?

As mentioned above, in most cases there should be no problem installing a roof during the winter months in the Florida Panhandle. It comes down to using certain techniques and taking specific precautions throughout the process. Luckily, the Florida Panhandle doesn’t get too awfully cold and we rarely see snow so for the most part we aren’t impacted like other places around the world.

What Temperature Should Shingles Be Installed?

The ideal temperature for shingle roof installation is 40 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit. When shingles are exposed to temperatures below 40, the likelihood of cracking or other damage is increased. This can occur even with the highest quality shingle products on the market.Along with potential damage to your shingles, temperatures lower than 40 can also cause issues with the adhesive on the roof shingles. If the adhesive isn’t properly working, the risk of future problems such as leaks is much greater. Storing the shingles and keeping them warm prior to installation can help to reduce these issues.
